A hint about deal in round 2

By Phy • July 28th, 2008

“On the issue of withdrawing troops, they should be pulled back in equal numbers,” newly-named Thai FM Tej Bunnag told AFP before flying off for round 2 of border talks in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Cambodian FM Hor Namhong would first demand Thailand withdraw troops before discussing other issues, a senior official told daily Khmer language newspaper Kampuchea Thmey today on condition of anonymity, according to Cambodian Press Review today.

“We need to talk about the military presence,” Cambodian govt spokesman Khieu Kanharith said, according to Bangkok Post today.

Both sides feel optmistic about the result (AFP, Bangkok Post).
