By Phy • June 26th, 2008

There are approximately 2.5 million landmines across the country. The number coupled with other unexploded ordinance (UXO) is responsible for some 63,000 Cambodians.

No figures as to how much of the land has been de-mined or how many of the landmines have been cleared but Tim Porter of Hal Trust, one of the three de-minig organizations in Cambodia, confirmed that it will take at least another ten years to clear all of them.

The report was today written in two of the local newspapers in Cambodia: English language Mekong Times and Cambodian language Koh Santepheap, according to the Cambodian Press Review (English ed. 1,086, Jun 26, 07).
