Blogging Resources: The tools you need to become a better blogger

Welcome to my resources page. Here, you'll find the tools I strongly recommend for building and optimizing your blog. I have tested each of them I recommend on this page. Most of the resources listed here are crucial to running my own blog and website.

Before digging into these great resources I use and love, there is an important disclosure I'd like to make:

Some of the links below are affiliate links so if you choose to make a purchase, I will earn a small commission. This commission comes at no additional cost to you. I recommend them not because of the commission I'll get if you buy from here, but because I've used and loved them myself. Buy only if you need them to help you become a better blogger.

Recommended Resources for Better Blogging

WordPress: The best open source software you can use to create a beautiful website, blog, or app

I was first introduced to blogging in 2004 and used Blogger.com until 2006. Wordpress has gotten better and better over time. It's evolved from being just a blogging platform to a website and app builder and it has changed the world wide web powering some 35% of the websites in the world!

I wanted a blog but stumbled on a full-range website builder! Wordpress exceeds my blogging expectations!

Starting at...

$3.95/mo.

SiteGround: Trusted by owners of 2,000,000 domains and recommended by Wordpress.org

I use SiteGround for all my websites. Their servers are extremely fast. I just love top notch customer support. SiteGround offers 24/7 phone, live chat, and ticket based support. Every time you need help, they're always there for you!

SiteGround offers free CDN and free SSL certificate, powerful caching, front-end and image optimizations, PHP version control and more! And they have data centers are located in a number of locations so you can choose the server location that's best for you.

If you use Wordpress to build your website, enjoy their powerful Wordpress starter to get your site up and running in just a few minutes.  Then, SiteGround also manages the security of your sites by automatically updating your installation and plugins to the latest version.

ThriveThemes: An All-in-One Wordpress Theme & Page Builder and Plugins

I've been using WordPress since 2006 and I always believe that it is the best blogging platform and website builder. But, ThriveThemes makes me love Wordpress even far more than ever before.

I never thought I could build any beautiful websites as I don't even know coding. And what I love about ThriveThemes is that it's also a whole sales-page-building suite with so many ready-made templates and their companion pages! Just a brilliant toolbox you'll need to build beautiful websites, marketing pages and landing pages!

namecheap: Domain Name Registrar I've trusted for more than 10 years

I love how namecheap is extremely user friendly. It's also cheaper and more reliable than most of the domain registrars out there. Other features I love about it include:

  • Free domain transfer
  • A huge variety of domain extensions, and
  • 30-day money back guarantee

I host all my domains on namecheap.

Canva: Design anything you want!

I really can design anything with Canva now! From logos to quotes, name cards, flyers, social media post images... to reports, CV/resume, business proposals. Yes, I've used it for all these and even more.

Canva has millions of images, elements and shapes you'll ever need to design any thing. How about doing it on a mobile app? Just an awesome tool for lay people to make great designs for anything at all.

Love the tool. You must definitely give it a try.

Yoast SEO Really is #1 SEO plugin for Wordpress

It is a must have plugin for Wordpress. It helps me write better and choose how search engines display my posts and pages on search results. Love how it analyzes the content and suggests how to improve it. Other outstanding features I love about this plugin include are the XML sitemap and search engine console integration. Their documentation is extremely useful especially if you're a new blogger.

Yoast SEO is just the only tool I use to improve search engine optimization on my sites.

mailchimp: Email marketing platform - free for up to 2,000 subscribers

What I love about mailchimp is that it makes it easy to integrate with other services I use such as ThriveThemes. The mobile app also comes in handy. The forms, landing pages, automated campaigns, templates and many other features make, to me, mailchimp a champion email marketing platform.

Just try it. You can use it for free for up to 2,000 subscribers.

Jetpack: Site stats, security and performance

Jetpack is the only one security plugin I use for my websites and blogs. (The rest I rely heavily on my web hosting provider SiteGround as it has a bunch of security and backup tools.)  I also love the lazy image loading tool that comes with it. Site stats? An absolutely yes. In fact, I hardly go to Google Analytics to check my site stats.

You can't experience Wordpress fully without Jetpack!

DashLane: Never forget another password again!

If you're like me, you have more than 200 passwords to remember. Well, it's impossible for me to remember them all. All I wanted was to not have to remember another password. The password storage and auto refills are extremely useful.

Dashlane gives me more than just this. It syncs across all my devices and browsers. Its password generator has saved me lots of time and effort. I also use the VPN tool all the time to encrypt my online activity on public WiFi and keep my personal information safe and private.
