UpskillsXR: Immersive Workplace Learning

How I founded UpskillsXR to connect training, facilitation, and immersive technology—with a working VR prototype, public teaching resources, and a clear distinction between today’s service-led work and the future XR platform vision.

UpskillsXR is my service-led immersive-learning initiative, operated by YSAMPHY LLC. It brings training design, facilitation, digital media, and XR together around a practical question: what do people need to practice to work more effectively?

The problem: knowing is not the same as doing

A presentation can explain a process, but workplace skills also depend on decisions, conversations, and judgment. UpskillsXR starts with the learning need, then explores facilitated practice, browser-based experiences, and immersive scenarios that give people a reason to decide, try, reflect, and improve.

My founder role

I founded UpskillsXR to connect my training and workshop facilitation experience with immersive technology. My background spans learning and development, stakeholder dialogue, and digital media, supported by an MA in Narrative and Emerging Media from Arizona State University.

My role is to connect the workplace problem with a clear learning objective, shape the scenario and learner journey, and explore an appropriate delivery format. The work begins with the people and the skill, then considers where technology can make the practice more useful.

Real examples and public evidence

AI Strategy Lab VR — working personal prototype

I designed and built a voice-first executive simulation in Unreal Engine 5 using Convai for conversational characters, targeting Meta Quest 3. The learning loop moves from briefing to stakeholder dialogue, an AI adoption decision, and a debrief. Developed in the context of my ASU master’s program, it is a personal prototype, not a deployed UpskillsXR client module.

Story Rails — delivered teaching and design resources

In an ASU guest session, I taught a framework for keeping AI characters aligned with a scene’s purpose, scope, behavior, and recovery. The public case study includes a slide deck, an AI Character Spec Sheet, and a demo character blueprint. This is an example of my facilitation and interaction-design work, not evidence of a finished UpskillsXR training product.

UpskillsXR website — a live service-led initiative

The public site explains the learning-design approach, workplace simulation focus, and a process of understanding the work, designing the practice, testing the experience, and reviewing it. Its workplace interaction, technology decision, and digital workflow scenarios are illustrative learning concepts, not completed client projects.

Current work and future vision

UpskillsXR currently centers on services and exploration: clarifying learning needs, shaping scenarios, and considering suitable immersive formats. The examples above show relevant work and prototypes that inform that direction; they do not establish client deployments, measured learning gains, or a production module library.

Reusable learning modules and an XR learning management platform are a future vision. They are not an available product, and this case study does not claim a launched XR LMS or completed production training modules.
